— Following someone from one business to another is creepy enough. Police say this one allegedly came with an even more disturbing encore.

The Altavista Police Department announced Tuesday that 28-year-old Glenn McKinley Chavis of Hurt was arrested in connection with two separate sex-crime investigations.

According to police, officers were called on Oct. 3, 2026, after receiving a report that a man had followed a person from one business to another in Altavista.

Investigators said the man then exposed himself to the person.

Police launched an investigation and said detectives identified Chavis as the suspect.

During that investigation, authorities said they also connected Chavis to a sexual battery incident reported on Sept. 28.

Police did not release additional details about the alleged sexual battery.

Chavis was subsequently arrested in connection with the two investigations.

The allegations remain allegations unless and until proven in court.

For the person who reported the Oct. 3 incident, however, what started as simply going from one business to another allegedly turned into an encounter with police that nobody ordered off the menu.
