— From Virginia to Florida, God’s Pit Crew is preparing to put boots on the ground as volunteers head south to help communities pick up the pieces after Hurricane Isaias.

The Danville-based disaster relief organization announced it is deploying volunteer teams and relief supplies to Milton, Florida, and surrounding areas after widespread and devastating storm damage.

The deployment is scheduled for October 12 through October 21, with crews expected to tackle some of the difficult cleanup and recovery work left behind by the storm.

Volunteers will assist with removing damaged trees, clearing debris, tarping damaged roofs, and providing care and support to residents affected by the disaster.

While chainsaws, equipment, and relief supplies will be essential tools in the recovery effort, God’s Pit Crew says its mission goes beyond physical cleanup — bringing compassion, encouragement, and hope to people facing some difficult days.

The organization is also asking the public to keep storm victims, local churches, partner organizations, and its volunteer crews in their prayers as the deployment gets underway.

For the volunteers heading into the affected communities, the mission is about more than clearing fallen trees and covering damaged roofs. It is about helping families begin putting their lives back together.

God’s Pit Crew says its volunteers will serve as the hands and feet of Jesus during a time of great need.

As the recovery effort begins, the Danville-based organization is once again preparing to take its disaster relief mission beyond Virginia’s borders — bringing helping hands and hope to Florida residents facing the aftermath of Hurricane Isaias.
