Greensboro leaders are holding a public hearing on a proposed pause on new data center development.
The proposal calls for a 120-day moratorium on data centers that exceed 10 megawatts of power. City officials say the pause would give Greensboro time to study the potential impacts on infrastructure, the electrical grid, water use and land use. The city council previously voted 5-4 against a moratorium in July.
The hearing is the first step before any formal vote on the proposal.
