Dennikia Rachelle Boyce, 37, has been arrested in Scotland Neck, North Carolina, by the U.S. Marshals Service, according to an update from Virginia State Police.
Boyce was arrested Thursday morning on a federal charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
She is also wanted in Virginia on two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the July 24 shooting deaths of two VDOT contractors in Chesterfield County.
The victims were identified by the U.S. Marshals Service as Rai’Shon Eugene Delarge, 30, and Philip Avery Wilson, 34, both of Emporia. Investigators said the two men were shot at a VDOT equipment yard near Route 1 and Route 288. Delarge was pronounced dead at the scene, while Wilson later died at a local hospital.
Boyce had been the subject of a U.S. Marshals fugitive investigation, with authorities previously offering up to $10,000 for information leading to her arrest.
Now the fugitive hunt has come to an end — but the legal process is just getting started.
Virginia State Police are working with authorities to extradite Boyce back to Virginia, where she will face the two murder charges.
The investigation remains ongoing.
From Chesterfield County to Scotland Neck — the search crossed state lines, but federal marshals eventually tracked her down.
And now comes the part where the handcuffs come off the fugitive hunt and the courtroom takes over.
