The Nelson County Sheriff's Office has decided to discontinue the use of Automated License Plate Reader cameras and terminate its contract with Flock Safety.
The change took effect Monday, Oct. 13, and the sheriff's office announced the decision in a statement on Facebook.
Nelson County becomes the latest Virginia locality to step away from the technology, following Montgomery County's decision to end its use of Flock cameras after a review citing privacy concerns and community worries.
