A woman arrested by another agency was found with methamphetamine during the booking process at the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office before she was placed in the county detention facility, authorities said. On Oct. 25, 35-year-old Laura Ashley Sayre of Eden was brought to the sheriff's office after her arrest.
During Sayre's initial booking and search, Sgt. I. Daniels and Sgt. T. Kentrolis found a baggie containing a suspicious substance hidden on her person. The detention facility investigator was notified and collected the contraband for testing, and the test showed the substance was methamphetamine.
Sayre was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and felony possession of a controlled substance on prison or jail premises. She was taken before a magistrate, given a $10,000 secured bond and placed in the detention facility to await a court date, records show. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Sheriff Parker praised detention officers for conducting thorough searches and following updated booking and initial search requirements, and commended Daniels and Kentrolis for their vigilance and professionalism.
