Sheriff Wayne Davis and members of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office had the opportunity to visit Campbell Court Elementary School for First Responders Day! We were proud to join the Bassett Fire Department, Bassett Rescue Squad, Henry County Public Safety, and members of our 911 Dispatch team for a special day with the students. The children had the opportunity to explore our vehicles, see some of the equipment we use, and learn a little more about the people who serve and protect their community. While the kids were excited to see the vehicles and equipment, we can promise you that the excitement went both ways. Seeing their faces light up, hearing their questions, and watching their curiosity and enthusiasm reminded us why days like today mean so much. But perhaps the most meaningful part of our visit was something we weren’t expecting. The students presented us with a whole stack of beautifully colored pictures and handwritten notes. ❤️ To those children, they may have been simple drawings and a few kind words. But to the men and women who put on a uniform every day, those little acts of kindness mean more than they could ever imagine. We went to Campbell Court Elementary hoping to make the kids smile. We left with smiles of our own and memories we won’t soon forget. To the students, teachers, and staff at Campbell Court Elementary School, thank you for welcoming us with open arms and making us feel so special. Your kindness, thoughtfulness, and appreciation truly touched our hearts. And to all the students who took the time to color a picture or write us a note, please know that your artwork and words are appreciated more than you know. We may have been invited there to show the children what it means to be a first responder, but they reminded us what it means to be part of a community.
