Henry County has another economic-development marker to watch after the Board of Supervisors and Industrial Development Authority announced a Patriot Centre II property sale to Appalachian Power Company.
The county notice posted May 21 says Appalachian Power has no specific development plans to announce at this time. County leaders framed the sale as part of their long-term approach to responsible land use, business investment and future economic opportunity around the industrial site.
Board Chairman Jim Adams called Appalachian Power a valued community partner and tied the transaction to infrastructure needed for future opportunity. Appalachian Power president and COO Brian Abraham said the purchase is a strategic investment in the company's future operations and regional service.
The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation also supported the transaction. For viewers, the immediate takeaway is not a newly announced plant or job count, but a signal that a major utility is strengthening its position at one of Henry County's strategic industrial properties.
