Henry County seniors have several community activities to put on the August calendar, including a free conversation with the Sheriff’s Office, a local mystery day trip and a hands-on lantern craft.
The county’s Summer 2026 Program Guide lists a Meet and Greet with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division for Aug. 20 at 10 a.m. at the Henry County Recreation Center, 395 W. John Redd Blvd. in Collinsville. The program is listed as free and is designed to explain how investigations work, what kinds of cases detectives handle and how residents can raise community concerns.
Two other August options are listed through Senior Services. Technology 101 for Seniors is set for Aug. 6 at 10 a.m. at the recreation center, with a lantern craft and a $20 instructor fee. The guide also lists a Local Mystery Day Trip on Aug. 18; the meetup time was still to be announced when the guide was published, and the cost is $85 per person. The recreation center is listed as the van pickup point.
Registration is required for Technology 101. Residents can call Senior Services at 276-634-4644 to ask about registration, the day-trip meetup time and any remaining space. The county says its parks and recreation department offers programs for children, adults, families and seniors across 29 park facilities.
