Roanoke downtown overnight paving begins Oct. 11 and runs into mid-November

ROANOKE — Overnight milling and paving is scheduled to begin in downtown Roanoke on Sunday, Oct. 11, with work planned from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. through mid-November, according to the city.

The work areas listed by the city include Salem Avenue between First and First-and-a-half streets; Campbell Avenue between First and Fifth streets; Kirk Avenue between Second Street and Williamson Road; Church Avenue between Second and Fifth streets; First Street between Salem Avenue and Franklin Road; Second Street between Salem and Day avenues; and Third Street between Salem Avenue and Franklin Road.

Drivers should allow extra time and use alternate routes when possible. The city says local access to residences and businesses will continue, but downtown residents and businesses should expect overnight construction noise.

Parking warning: No-parking signs will be posted ahead of the work. Vehicles left in posted construction zones may be towed, and the city asks drivers to use parking garages or street spaces outside the active work area.
