Free Women’s Naturalist Hike set for Aug. 8 at Roanoke County’s Explore Park

Women who enjoy getting outdoors can join a free guided hike at Roanoke County’s Explore Park on Saturday, Aug. 8.

The Women’s Naturalist Hike runs from 9 to 11 a.m. and is led by members of the Roanoke Valley Master Naturalists. The county says the monthly hikes are designed for women who enjoy nature, getting outside and having fun.

The group will meet at the Explore Park Visitor Center, 56 Roanoke River Parkway Road, Roanoke. Participants should dress for the weather and bring a water bottle. The county lists the program as free, but registration is required.

Registration and event availability can be checked through the county’s calendar before heading out. The hike is scheduled the same morning as the county’s sensory-friendly hour for Touch-A-Truck at Green Hill Park, giving families and outdoor enthusiasts another local option for starting the weekend outside.
