Winston-Salem adults can explore texture at Oct. 1 NCMA Open Studio

Adults in Winston-Salem can spend Thursday evening experimenting with texture during NCMA Winston-Salem's Open Studio: Hidden Layers, scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 1.

The drop-in workshop will be held at NCMA Winston-Salem Downtown, 400 W. Fourth St., Suite 130. The museum says the session will introduce masking techniques and invite participants to use alternative pigments, including coffee grounds and turmeric, to build layered textures.

Guest artist Gretchen Siebert will guide the workshop. The program is part of the museum's ongoing Open Studio series, which is designed for adults and emphasizes experimentation, conversation and connection over a finished product. Materials are provided.
