WINSTON-SALEM — The city is replacing red 2026-27 yard-waste cart stickers at no additional cost after learning that some previously issued stickers did not adhere properly.
Customers who bought a red 2026-27 yard-waste sticker will automatically receive a replacement by mail. The city says the first batch went out during the week of Oct. 5, and customers whose current sticker remains securely attached may continue using it.
To prevent an interruption in service, the city will continue collecting yard-waste carts through Oct. 31, 2026, even if a replacement sticker has not arrived. Beginning Nov. 2, 2026, carts must display a valid red yard-waste sticker for collection.
When applying the replacement, residents should clean the application area with rubbing alcohol and let it dry, place the sticker on the right side of the cart when standing in front of it, and avoid putting the new sticker over the current one. Questions can go to CityLink at 311 or 336-727-8000.
