Winston-Salem water main break may affect eastern Forsyth customers

Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Utilities issued an emergency alert Wednesday morning after a water main break that could affect customers on the eastern side of Forsyth County.

The city alert, posted at 8:31 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2026, says affected customers may experience low water pressure or temporary interruptions in water service. The city identifies the failed line as a 24-inch water main and says it is a critical part of the water distribution system.

Utilities staff said crews are aware of the break and working on repairs. The city also noted that the outage is not related to water shutoff projects that had already been scheduled for Wednesday.
