Black Theatre Festival closes with free block party and parade

The International Black Theatre Festival heads into its final weekend with three free public events in downtown Winston-Salem.

The city's official calendar lists an Old School Block Party at 7 p.m. Friday, July 31, at Corpening Plaza. On Saturday, August 1, a closing parade is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. from 425 N. Cherry St., followed by another Old School Block Party at 7 p.m.

The calendar marks the event series as free and open to the public. Times vary by event, so attendees should check the official listing and organizer information before heading downtown.

The weekend activity may bring heavier pedestrian traffic around Cherry Street, the Benton Convention Center area and Corpening Plaza.
