PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. — Weather alert, issued September 2, 2026, at 1:32 p.m. EDT: The National Weather Service office in Blacksburg has placed Pittsylvania County under a Heat Advisory through 8 p.m. EDT Wednesday, September 2.
Heat index values may reach 107. Hot temperatures and high humidity can cause heat illness.
The NWS advises residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, avoid direct sun and check on relatives and neighbors.
A second Heat Advisory is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. EDT Thursday, September 3, when heat index values may reach 108.
