Danville residents have a formal channel to comment on the Police Department's accreditation status as the agency moves through its first year of CALEA review.
The Danville Police Department says it was awarded CALEA Accreditation in March 2026 and is now participating in the first year of review. CALEA, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, is collecting public comments about the department's standards compliance, service to the community, public safety delivery and overall accredited status.
The city says comments may include commendations or concerns, but the CALEA portal is not an investigatory body and should not be used to file formal investigative information. Submissions will receive acknowledgement, and CALEA will consider relevant comments in the accreditation context.
- What to know: The comment portal is for accreditation feedback, not emergency reporting, formal complaint filing or direct case investigation.
- Who is affected: Danville residents, neighborhood groups, businesses, visitors and anyone with direct experience with local public safety services.
- Why it matters: Accreditation reviews can shape policy, training, accountability practices and public confidence in law enforcement operations.
Residents who want to participate should use the CALEA comment link provided by the city. Emergencies should still be reported through 911 or the appropriate police contact channel.
