Greensboro city lakes list Aug. 15 night paddle with limited reservations

GREENSBORO — Greensboro’s city-lakes program is scheduled to offer its next 2026 night paddle on Saturday, Aug. 15, giving residents an evening option on the water during the late-summer heat.

The City of Greensboro says its rotating Night Paddles program uses Lake Brandt, Lake Higgins and Lake Townsend. Paddles at Lake Brandt and Lake Townsend are guided, while Lake Higgins sessions are not guided. The city lists Aug. 15 as one of the program dates and says reservations are required because space is limited.

The program is open to participants ages 13 and older, and paddlers should arrive before 8 p.m. Participants may bring their own boat or reserve a city rental. The listed rates are $20 for a solo kayak, $30 for a tandem kayak and $8 to launch a personal boat.

Anyone planning to attend should use the city’s registration link to confirm the assigned lake, availability, launch instructions and weather-related changes before leaving. Greensboro also reminds visitors that swimming and wading are not allowed at the city lakes, and all boats must be off the water 30 minutes before closing.
