GREENSBORO — Residents can learn the basics of the ukulele for free Saturday, Aug. 15, when Hemphill Branch Library hosts a beginner class from noon to 1:30 p.m.
The class will be held at 2301 W. Vandalia Road and is open to adults and people age 11 and older. Registration is required. Participants may bring their own ukulele or ask the library to reserve one from its circulating collection, donated by the Triad Ukulele Club.
Terry Brandsma of the Triad Ukulele Club will teach the class. The library says beginner sessions are planned on a bi-monthly schedule in August, October, December, February, April and June, giving new players a recurring way to practice with an instructor.
