Triad residents still have time to weigh in on which transportation projects should rise on long-range funding lists.
The Greensboro Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization is seeking comments on local input points methodology and project assignments for the 2028-2037 Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program. The city says draft project lists, point assignments and methodology are available for review, with comments due by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026.
NCDOT is also accepting statewide public input from July 1-31 for the 2028-2037 State Transportation Improvement Program process. The state process lets residents comment on highway, aviation, bicycle and pedestrian, public transportation, rail, ferry and other project priorities through an interactive map and local division outreach.
- What to know: Greensboro MPO has scheduled a virtual public meeting at noon Thursday, July 23, before its Transportation Advisory Committee considers endorsement in August.
- Who is affected: Greensboro, Guilford County and Rockingham County commuters, transit riders, freight users, cyclists, pedestrians, airport users and local governments competing for future project funding.
- Why it matters: These scoring and comment windows help determine which projects move forward in the next multi-year transportation improvement program.
Residents should review the draft project material, submit comments before the listed deadlines and use NCDOT's prioritization map if they want state transportation planners to see specific corridor feedback.
