A North Carolina police department is tightening access to its Flock license plate reader cameras after an officer was accused of misusing the system.

Mooresville police say Officer Elizabeth Snowman is accused of improperly searching the automated license plate reader network. Chief Ron Campurciani says the department is adding new restrictions and oversight on who can run searches and why.

The cameras automatically photograph passing vehicles and log their plates, and their use by police has drawn growing privacy scrutiny. The matter remains under review.
