An Amherst County grand jury returned 41 felony indictments against 20 individuals on Oct. 12, the Amherst County Sheriff's Office announced. Many of the indictments stem from investigations by the sheriff's office narcotics unit into the distribution of illegal drugs in the community.

Deputies said the illegal drugs seized from those individuals included crack-cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, psilocin and counterfeit prescription pills. The individuals charged currently have active warrants, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Anyone with information about criminal activity or the whereabouts of the wanted individuals is encouraged to call the Amherst County Sheriff's Office at (434) 946-9300 or Central Virginia Crime Stoppers at 1-888-798-5900. Tipsters can also submit information online at p3tips.com, through the P3 Tips mobile app, or by texting CVCS to 738477 for a link to the anonymous tip form.
