Another Henry County Sheriff’s Office deputy is out of a job after being arrested while off duty.
Homer Charles Jessee, who was assigned to the Corrections Division/Adult Detention Center, was arrested Saturday night, August 15, 2026, in Eden, North Carolina.
Jessee was charged with driving while impaired and assault and battery.
According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Jessee was off duty when the incident occurred.
Once the Sheriff’s Office was notified of the arrest, officials said they took immediate administrative action. Jessee was terminated from his position.
The agency said the matter has also been addressed in accordance with applicable Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services requirements regarding decertification.
Henry County Sheriff Wayne Davis said employees of the Sheriff’s Office are expected to maintain high standards of conduct both on and off the clock.
“Employees of the Sheriff’s Office are expected to maintain standards of conduct that reflect the responsibility and public trust associated with their positions,” Davis said.
Jessee’s arrest comes less than a month after another Henry County deputy, Christopher Michael Shaver, was arrested in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on charges of driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident. Shaver was also off duty and was terminated within hours of the Sheriff’s Office being notified.
The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that the actions of the two deputies do not reflect the conduct or professionalism of the other men and women serving Henry County.
Apparently, for these two deputies, “off duty” meant off duty — not off the hook
