Four Detained as Deputies Raid ‘Deplorable’ Henry County Property in Narcotics Investigation
BASSETT, Va. — A Thursday night narcotics search in the Bassett community led to four people being detained as Henry County investigators continued combing through a large property described by the sheriff as being in “deplorable condition.”
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office executed a narcotics search warrant in the 9100 block of Fairystone Park Highway after an investigation into suspected methamphetamine distribution.
Sheriff Wayne Davis said four people — three men and one woman — were detained during the operation while investigators processed the scene and searched for additional evidence.
Investigators located drug paraphernalia consistent with narcotics distribution, according to Davis.
But the search wasn't exactly a quick job.
Davis said the residence and adjoining structures are large and in deplorable condition, creating challenges for investigators attempting to conduct a comprehensive search.
Because of the size and condition of the property, officials expected the search to take considerable time as investigators worked through the buildings and processed potential evidence.
The investigation remains active, and additional charges and information are expected as investigators complete their work.
For now, four people are detained, evidence is being collected and deputies are still digging through what the sheriff described as a difficult scene.
The search warrant may have been executed Thursday night — but investigators weren't done when the sun came up.
