HENRY COUNTY, VA. — The Henry County Sheriff’s Office traded the patrol car for a college campus today as deputies, investigators and the K9 team joined Patrick & Henry Community College’s Campus Safety & Wellness Day.
And yes — apparently the K9 team was invited too. We’re guessing they didn't have to worry about getting a parking ticket.
Sheriff’s Office personnel spent the day meeting with students, faculty, staff, community partners and anyone else who stopped by to say hello.
Events like this give law enforcement an opportunity to do something beyond responding to calls — actually meet the people they're serving.
Deputies answered questions, talked with students and showcased some of the people, equipment and resources working behind the scenes every day to help keep Henry County safe.
The K9 team, of course, brought along one of the department's biggest crowd-pleasers.
The Sheriff's Office thanked Patrick & Henry Community College for the invitation and the community partners who helped make the event a success.
And judging by the Sheriff's Office's comments, they're already looking forward to coming back.
So there you have it — deputies, investigators and K9s on campus, and nobody had to call 911.
That's what we call a pretty successful day.
