Jonesville will host its first-ever Slice of the Valley Country Ham Festival on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lila Swaim Park. The one-day celebration showcases one of the South's most cherished traditions while highlighting the heritage, hospitality and charm of the Yadkin Valley.
Visitors can expect country ham offerings, local artisans and craft vendors, merchandise booths and festival food. Organizers have also planned live music with line dancing and square dancing, a Best Dressed as a Pig contest, a pig calling contest and a Paint Party with Laura at the Civic Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Two events require advance registration: a Country Ham Dish Cook-Off and a 5K run and walk that starts at 9 a.m. with check-in at 8 a.m. at Sgt. Gregory Martin Park. Craft and food vendors can apply through the town, with limited spaces available. More information is posted at visitjonesvillenc.com, and the town can be reached at 336-835-3426.
