Madison Man Arrested on Felony Sex-Offender Registry Charge
MADISON — The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office says a 42-year-old Madison man is behind bars after investigators say he failed to comply with North Carolina’s sex offender registration requirements.
Kevin Daniel Pegram, 42, of Madison, was arrested Sept. 8, 2026, following an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office’s Invictus Task Force.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Pegram was charged with one felony count of Failure to Register an Online Identifier.
And investigators aren't calling the case finished just yet.
More charges could be coming.
The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation is ongoing.
Pegram was taken to the Rockingham County Detention Center, where a magistrate issued a $200,000 secured bond. He remains in custody, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The arrest was part of a larger investigation involving the Invictus Task Force, a multi-agency effort focused on internet crimes against children, child exploitation and trafficking.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began in August after multiple cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children were received. Investigators identified Pegram as a suspect and obtained a search warrant.
On Sept. 8, members of the Invictus Task Force, assisted by the Rockingham County Special Response Team, executed the warrant, resulting in Pegram's arrest.
The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains active and additional charges are possible as investigators continue working the case.
In other words: This one isn't over yet.
Pegram is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
