Badges, Baseball & Community: National Night Out Brings Local Law Enforcement Together in Martinsville
Residents of Martinsville and Henry County are invited to spend an evening getting to know the men and women behind the badge during National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4 at Southside Park.
The annual event will bring together the Henry County Sheriff's Office, Martinsville Police Department, Virginia State Police, and other public safety partners for an evening focused on strengthening relationships between law enforcement and the community.
One of the night's biggest attractions will be a wiffle ball tournament, where local police officers, sheriff's deputies, and Virginia State Troopers will trade patrol cars for plastic bats as they compete for nothing more than community bragging rights.
The event will also feature opportunities for families to meet first responders, learn about public safety, and enjoy an evening of community fellowship.
Organizers also extended a special thank you to the Virginia Juvenile Justice Association, whose Henry County members will volunteer throughout the evening to help make the event a success.
National Night Out is designed to strengthen partnerships between law enforcement and the communities they serve while promoting neighborhood safety and crime prevention.
