— The spirit of giving was on full display as volunteers turned out in big numbers for the United Way Day of Caring, putting their time, energy and muscle to work helping organizations and communities across the area.
Volunteers tackled projects throughout the community, proving once again that sometimes the best way to make a difference is simply to show up and get to work.
During the event, United Way officials also announced some encouraging news about this year's fundraising campaign.
The organization has already raised $120,000 toward its $500,000 goal.
That puts the campaign nearly one-quarter of the way there, with plenty of work — and plenty of opportunity for the community to get involved — still ahead.
From swinging a hammer to opening a checkbook, the message was clear:
It takes a community to make a difference — and this community showed up. ❤️
United Way officials are continuing to encourage residents, businesses and organizations to support the campaign as they work toward the $500,000 fundraising goal.
