The man convicted of murdering two soldiers on Fort Bragg and a third victim in a drug-world killing spree will spend the rest of his life in federal prison, prosecutors say.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina says Kenneth Maurice Quick Jr., 26, of Laurinburg, shot and killed an active-duty soldier at a trap house in Laurinburg in December 2020 after making a deal to buy cocaine from him. Prosecutors say Quick then forced a former soldier, who had provided the drugs, to drive to a wooded area on Fort Bragg to dispose of the body, and when the vehicle got stuck in the sand, Quick shot him to death too. Two months later, Quick murdered a third victim during another drug deal. While in custody, he also gave a potential witness's name to a fellow gang member, who murdered that witness. Quick was convicted in May on eight counts, including first-degree murder, drug conspiracy and obstruction of justice.
He was sentenced to three life sentences plus an additional prison term, ensuring he will never be released.
