Trash Talk! Star News' Charles Roark Earns a C+ From Supervisor Chris Lawless on His First Trash Pickup
It was boots on the ground—not behind the camera—for Star News' own Charles Roark on Saturday as he joined the MHC Trash Pandas for a community cleanup in the Collinsville District.
Roark spent the morning picking up litter alongside volunteers, but when it came time for grading his performance, Henry County Collinsville District Supervisor Chris Lawless wasn't handing out participation trophies.
Instead, Lawless gave Roark a C+.
His reason?
"Your trash bag has got to be full to get an A+," Lawless joked.
While Roark may not have earned top marks on his first outing, he still helped remove litter from the community and joined dozens of volunteers working to make the Collinsville District cleaner.
The MHC Trash Pandas regularly organize cleanup events across the Martinsville-Henry County area, encouraging residents to take pride in their neighborhoods one bag of trash at a time.
As for Roark, he'll have another chance to improve his GPA.
Apparently, in the world of trash pickup, it's not about how many miles you walk—it's about how full your garbage bag is. Next time, he'll know that earning an A+ means filling the bag before the excuses.
