Woods Farm in Boones Mill will permanently close Saturday, Oct. 31, the farm announced on its Facebook page.
The family-owned farm, orchard and greenhouse sits on Naff Road in the Naff community on the edge of Franklin County. The farm has been a seasonal stop for local produce, with a farm stand open spring through fall and shorter winter hours, and it drew attention in July when owner Mark Woods reported a solid peach crop that came through a spring frost.
Woods said at the time that summer heat had concentrated the juice in the fruit and given it good flavor, a welcome turnaround after several failed peach crops in prior years. The closing announcement did not include a reason, and customers have been directed to the farm's social media pages for updates as the Oct. 31 date approaches.
