— An Altavista man has been arrested following investigations into alleged internet crimes against children and sexual abuse of animals, according to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
Mitchell Doss, 26, was arrested Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
Authorities say the arrest stems from separate investigations conducted by the sheriff’s office and the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Doss faces the following charges:
Four counts of possession of child pornography.
One count of distribution of child pornography.
Two counts of sexual abuse of animals.
The sheriff’s office has released no additional details, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
