Henry County families planning for fall sports have until Aug. 14 to register children for county youth football, girls' basketball and football spirit squads.
The registration form lists flag football for children who will be 7 or 8 on Oct. 1, junior tackle football for ages 9-10, and senior tackle football for ages 11-12. Girls' basketball divisions are listed for ages 8-10 and 11-13, while spirit squads are available for elementary and middle-school students.
New and returning players must complete a form. The county asks families to attach a birth certificate if one is not already on file and mail, fax or deliver the paperwork to the Parks and Recreation office on Kings Mountain Road. Children must live in Henry County or attend a Henry County public school to participate.
Practices begin in August, with league play scheduled from September through November. The county lists a $10 participation fee due at the first practice; spirit squads also have a $40 uniform rental fee. Parents should call 276-634-4640 with questions or to confirm delivery instructions.
