The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for... Stokes County in north central North Carolina... Eastern Surry County in northwestern North Carolina... Yadkin County in northwestern North Carolina... Southeastern Patrick County in southwestern Virginia...
* Until 245 AM EDT Sunday.
* At 835 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area.
Between 4 and 5 inches of rain have fallen.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
IMPACT... Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
Big Beaver Island Creek, Ararat River, Beaver Creek, Baker Branch, Archies Creek and Belews Creek.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
