Exclusive ThreatNet Road Condition Algorithms show patchy areas of flooded low spots, primarily from ditches overflowing nearby county roads. These “Flooded” areas in dark green correspond well with the official NWS Flood Advisories and Special Weather Statements currently in effect.

As mentioned earlier on Patreon at patreon.com/jameysingleton and here on FB, narrow high totals of 4-8” are possible through Sunday night. Many spots have already seen 2” of rain.

More storms are developing upstream in the Carolinas and are going to follow the same path of the moderate to heavy rain falling right now.

Flash Flood Warnings may soon be issued if trends continue.

Remember NEVER EVER EVER try to drive across a flooded road! The road may not even be there! Even if the road hasn’t been washed out, it’s impossible to correctly “guess” the depth of floodwaters by eyesight alone. Most of the time the water is much deeper than it looks.

Moving floodwaters also can sweep you off your feet; it only takes 6-12” …and… just 1-2 feet of water WILL FLOAT YOUR CAR AWAY, pulling the front/engine down under the water surface making the front driver and passenger seats under more water than the back seats. Also keep in mind your car is a flotation device with 4 air-filled tires 🛞 that make you and your vehicle buoyant.

TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN! Get to higher ground if warnings are issued. They will automatically post to my X account and here on FB. Check with weather.gov to confirm warnings.

Flash flooding is even more dangerous over our mountainous terrain ⛰️ 🌊 🚗. Most deaths occur in automobiles at night! Don’t become another statistic.

Listen, we will be in this pattern for most of next week! Please take this rain seriously. Even with long term drought, too much rain too soon will still cause major flash flooding in some of these storms over the next 2-4 days, including tonight through Sunday and Sunday night!
