MARTINSVILLE, Va. — The crime scene tape is up, Fayette Street is closed, and detectives are searching for answers after an early Saturday morning shooting left a 24-year-old Danville man dead and two women wounded. The biggest question remains unanswered: Who pulled the trigger?
The Martinsville Police Department said officers responded to a shots fired call at 4:16 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Fayette Street.
When officers arrived, they found D'Sean Jones, 24, of Danville, dead at the scene. An adult woman suffering from a gunshot wound was also located at the scene. Around the same time, a second woman arrived at SOVAH Health-Martinsville with gunshot wounds.
Investigators spent Saturday processing the scene, collecting evidence, and interviewing witnesses.
As of Saturday afternoon, no suspect information has been released, and police have not announced any arrests or a possible motive.
Motorists should expect Fayette Street to remain closed between High Street and Peters Street while investigators continue processing the crime scene.
The shooting remains under investigation.
