— A routine driver's license checkpoint in Rockingham County led to the arrest of a 59-year-old Reidsville man on drug charges Friday, October 16, 2026.

According to the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office, deputies were conducting a license check near the intersection of Cunningham Mill Road and Spearman Road in Reidsville when Corporal M. Michaels and Deputy D. Webb encountered Allen Kolberg, 59, who was driving a vehicle.

During the investigation, deputies reportedly discovered illegal narcotics in Kolberg's possession.

Kolberg was taken into custody and charged with:

Felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance

Misdemeanor possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce

Following his arrest, Kolberg was taken before a magistrate and issued a $7,500 secured bond.

The Sheriff's Office reported a court date of October 26, 2026.

Rockingham County Sheriff Billy Parker praised Corporal Michaels and Deputy Webb for their vigilance and efforts to remove illegal drugs from the community.

The Sheriff's Office emphasized its continued commitment to combating illegal drug activity throughout Rockingham County, stating that deputies will pursue drug possession offenses regardless of the quantity involved.

Authorities did not specify the type or amount of Schedule II controlled substance allegedly recovered during the checkpoint.

All charges are allegations, and Kolberg is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
