ROANOKE COUNTY — Drivers and greenway users should expect ongoing work near Highland Road and Hogan Road, where county officials say flagging will continue through Aug. 28.
The project includes replacing a storm pipe beneath Highland Road, installing a new curb inlet and adding about 250 feet of curb and gutter between the roadway and the greenway. The full road closure listed for Aug. 10-11 has ended, but the county says flagging will remain for the rest of the project.
Hogan Road remains accessible through Rutrough Road. The county’s detour directions route traffic around Riverdale Road, Bennington Street SE, Mt. Pleasant Boulevard SE and Rutrough Road, depending on which side of the work area a driver approaches from.
The Roanoke River Greenway is closed between the trailhead parking lot at 3226 Highland Road and the trailhead near the Rutrough Road and Highland Road intersection through Aug. 28. People planning a walk or bike ride should check the county’s official closure notice and map before leaving.
