New traffic signal now operating at Peters Creek Road and Alpine Road

ROANOKE COUNTY — A new traffic signal at the intersection of Peters Creek Road and Alpine Road is now fully operational near the Roanoke County Career and Technology Center.

County officials said the signal entered full operation Wednesday, Aug. 12, after a 48-hour flashing-yellow period. Electronic message boards were placed along Peters Creek Road beginning Aug. 7 to warn drivers that the traffic pattern was changing.

The signal was installed by Roanoke County Public Schools as part of construction for the new career and technology center. The Virginia Department of Transportation will maintain the signal.

Drivers approaching the new intersection should watch for the signal, follow the updated lane pattern and use extra caution while traffic adjusts around the school facility. The county notice does not announce a closure or detour.
