The City of Roanoke’s Riverland Road and Star Trail parking improvement project remains in its active construction phase, with detours and access adjustments still shaping travel in the Mill Mountain area.
In a city press release posted April 3, officials said the project includes new pedestrian connections, drainage and water-quality work, and parking-area reconstruction, with construction expected to continue through fall 2026.
The city’s notice also confirmed a through-traffic closure segment on Riverland Road between 9th Street and Garden City Boulevard, with marked detours directing drivers through adjacent routes.
For Roanoke commuters, park users, and weekend visitors, this remains a persistent traffic-impact story likely to produce additional schedule or routing updates as work advances.
