Roanoke road work keeps Reynolds Road closed through Aug. 21; Brandon paving ends Friday

Roanoke drivers should plan for multiple active work zones this week, including an asphalt-repair project on Reynolds Road SE that is scheduled to continue through Friday, Aug. 21.

The City of Roanoke says crews are working on Reynolds Road between Mabry Avenue SE and Bandy Road SE on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Local traffic will still be able to reach homes and businesses, but the city warns that travel delays are possible and encourages drivers to allow extra time or use another route.

A separate milling and paving project is scheduled on Brandon Avenue between Carlton Road SW and Langdon Road SW through Friday, Aug. 7. The city lists work hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, with local access maintained. Questions about that project can be directed to the Western Virginia Water Authority at 540-853-5700.

Drivers should also note a planned event closure on Friday, Aug. 7: Franklin Road SW between Williamson Road and Jefferson Street is scheduled to close from noon to 11 p.m. for First Fridays. The City of Roanoke asks drivers, cyclists and pedestrians to stay alert around crews, equipment and temporary closures.
