People planning trips to the Hanes Mill Road Solid Waste Facility should expect limited access during a scheduled U.S. 52 closure from Friday, July 31, through Sunday, Aug. 2.
Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Utilities says an NC DOT contractor will close the Hanes Mill Road bridge and ramps at U.S. 52 beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, July 31. Work is expected to continue until noon Sunday, Aug. 2, weather permitting.
The closure is part of the NC DOT Hanes Mill Road widening project. The city says landfill access will be limited, traffic control will be handled by the contractor and detours will be posted. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and plan alternate routes.
Residents with utility or solid-waste questions can contact CityLink at 311 inside Winston-Salem or 336-727-8000. Drivers should check the city alert and DriveNC.gov before leaving because weather or construction conditions may change the schedule.
