Danville's regional tourism program, Visit SoSi, has received a $30,000 Marketing Leverage Program grant from the Virginia Tourism Corporation for a new campaign called Welcome to SoSi.
The city says the campaign will promote Danville and Pittsylvania County to travelers within a four-hour drive, with emphasis on outdoor recreation, cultural attractions, dining, and small-city destinations.
The grant is part of a broader Virginia Tourism Corporation funding cycle that awarded more than $2.2 million in matching grant and sponsorship funds to 143 tourism programs across the state. Local partners are expected to match the state funds, multiplying the impact of the awards.
For Danville, the grant supports a tourism strategy tied to River District growth, regional branding, and visitor spending. The practical effect is not a single event, but a push to keep the Danville-Pittsylvania corridor in front of travelers from nearby Virginia and North Carolina markets.
