Greensboro drivers and downtown water customers have a same-day utility and traffic alert to watch today, Thursday, May 28. The city says closures tied to water valve repairs will affect West Washington Street and Federal Place.
From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., all eastbound lanes of West Washington Street from South Eugene Street to South Greene Street are scheduled to close. All lanes of Federal Place from Exchange Place to West Washington Street are also scheduled to close during that window.
- What to know: West Washington Street from South Greene Street to South Elm Street is scheduled for a full closure from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Water note: Greensboro says affected water customers have been notified. If water looks discolored or cloudy after repairs, residents should run cold water for a few minutes through a faucet without an aerator until clear.
- Driver action: Signs and cones will be posted, and motorists should use alternate routes where possible.
The city says dates and times can change because of weather or last-minute schedule changes. For water and sewer emergencies, Greensboro lists 336-373-2033 as the Water Resources 24-hour dispatch number.
