7:09 p.m. FRI - 9/4/26 - …STORMS FADE OVER THE ROANOKE / NEW RIVER VALLEY…. …ENERGY “JUMPS” to SE VIRGINIA INTO NORTH CAROLINA…

One area’s pain is another area’s gain in terms of the severity of the storms and their placement.

Cirrus blowing off from the storms that hit north of Roanoke and Lynchburg into West Virginia, weakening the instability for most of us just to the south.

There’s also broad lift over the stormy clusters, and resulting sinking air due to the resulting physics around the outside of the hardest hit areas.

Eastern VA and Eastern NC are the areas to watch for the next few hours.

STORMS MISS YOUR LOCATION? Watch late tonight into Saturday, watch out for a new episode of storms. The heat will have to be “worked over” at some point with the next round of storms ahead of a strong front from the north.

The timing will dictate whether we get stronger storms with only locally heavy rain or less intense activity and more widespread moderate rain. Stay tuned!
