. — A healthcare provider who worked at a Goochland County pain clinic is facing a felony charge after an adult patient reported alleged inappropriate sexual contact during medical examinations.

According to the Goochland County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began after the patient reported that the alleged contact occurred during examinations between November 2021 and May 2023.

Authorities identified the provider as 49-year-old Steven A. Brewer of Moseley.

Brewer was indicted on one felony count of aggravated sexual battery and was booked into the Pamunkey Regional Jail after being served with the indictment on September 2.

He didn't remain behind bars for long.

Brewer was released on September 4 after being granted a $10,000 secured bond with pretrial conditions.

His next court appearance is scheduled for September 15 in Goochland Circuit Court.

The allegations involve conduct that reportedly occurred during medical examinations, making this case particularly serious because patients enter a medical office expecting professional care — not to have boundaries allegedly crossed.

The investigation and court proceedings will now determine what happened.
