A Wythe County man is behind bars following a child sex crimes investigation, according to the Wythe County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators identified the suspect as Matthew Aaron Autrey, who authorities say was communicating with a minor online.
According to investigators, Autrey knew the minor's age and allegedly made plans to meet the child in Wythe County for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity.
During the investigation, authorities also determined that Autrey allegedly sent sexually explicit images to the minor, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The investigation led to Autrey's arrest. The case remains under investigation, and additional details about the charges and court proceedings were not immediately available.
As with all criminal cases, the allegations are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
