MARTINSVILLE, Va. — A large law enforcement response descended on the 400 block of Fayette Street early Saturday morning after a shooting left one man dead and two women injured.
Martinsville Police Chad Rhoads confirmed to Star News that an adult male died from his injuries. Two adult females survived the shooting and are currently receiving medical treatment.
Chief Rhoads also said there are no suspects at this time, and the investigation remains active.
According to emergency dispatch information, the shooting was reported at approximately 4:14 a.m. in the 400 block of Fayette Street. Initial reports indicated three victims had been shot, prompting a significant response from the Martinsville Police Department and other emergency responders.
Officers secured the area while investigators processed the crime scene and gathered evidence. Detectives are working to determine what led to the shooting and identify those responsible.
Authorities have not released the identities of the victims, and no motive has been announced.
