The Rockingham Theatre has been a fixture in downtown Reidsville for decades, and the building's history as a theater gives it something many downtown properties simply don't have — a built-in story.
Now, the question is what happens next.
Could it remain a theater? Become a live entertainment venue? Turn into a restaurant, event space, retail destination or something nobody has thought of yet?
That's exactly what Downtown Development Day is designed to showcase — properties that could become part of the next chapter of downtown Reidsville.
And yes, apparently the Rockingham Theatre has officially entered the real-estate dating pool.
The City of Reidsville has emphasized downtown redevelopment as part of its broader development goals, including efforts to promote downtown investment and reuse of existing properties.
So if you've ever walked past the old Rockingham Theatre and thought, “Somebody should do something with that place,” Sunday might be your chance to see it up close.
The big question isn't whether the building has history.
It's who wants to make some new history inside it.
